2019 European Parliament Election

The European Parliament (EP) elections were held on 23-26 May 2019, which all adult EU citizens voted for who would represent them in the European Parliament.

The provisional results show us that the significant losses are for the two main groups, the centre-right European People’s Party (EEP) and the centre-left Socialists and Democrats (SD) in the European Parliament.
Although EPP and the S
D have lost their majority, they are still the largest groups in the EP because there should be 376 seats for being the majority.

According to these results, the success of the Greens (69 seats) and the Liberals (109 members), which are more than expected, comes to the fore. The Greens and Liberals, which have specifically taken votes from young citizens, have remarked in the EP elections.
This result signifies the importance that the Greens, Liberals and the central parties should cooperate in the European Parliament for the future of the European Union.
