What is Cultural Policy?


According to UNESCO’s definition of cultural policy; “Cultural policies and measures refers to those policies and measures relating to culture, whether at the local, national, regional or international level that are either focused on culture as such or are designed to have a direct effect on cultural expressions of individuals, groups or societies, including on the creation, production, dissemination, distribution, of and access to cultural activities, goods and services”.(1)
Cultural policy, in general, is a governmental plan which is about culture and the arts. So, cultural policy is a management notion for the governments. It signifies of how a government will spend its financial resources for the fields of culture and art. 
Cultural policy is a fairly extensive area; it is including all kinds of cultural and art events such as museums, visual arts, performing arts, symphonic, chamber and choral music, jazz, modern dance, opera and musical theatre, natural heritage, tangible and intangible cultural heritage protection, humanities.
