FOR ALL BİLGİ BA AND MA STUDENTS

“GENDER EQUALITY IN THE LABOUR MARKET IN EUROPE AND TURKEY”

 

Istanbul Bilgi University’s European Institute invites BİLGİ students enrolled in BA and MA Programmes studying in the fields of European Studies, Politics, Law, International Relations, Anthropology, Sociology, Cultural Studies, and other fields, to submit academic papers on the theme “Gender Equality in the Labour Market in Europe and Turkey”.

The European Institute is organising this competition in order to encourage all BİLGİ students to reflect and research on the comparative situations of women in the respective labour markets in Europe and Turkey. This challenging subject can be analysed from many different aspects such as the state of gender equality regarding work, the legal framework/policies (including benefits, equal pay, maternity, measures in favour of work/life balance), encouraging women’s participation in the labour market, cultural differences per country/region, entrepreneurship, historical progress, the situation in public and private sectors, blue/white collar jobs and many others.

Submissions will be accepted through 22 January 2018 - 01 June 2018.  

The three best papers will be awarded prizes (1st place award is 4,000 TL; 2nd place award is 3,000 TL; and 3rd place award is 2,000 TL). Authors of the three best selections will have the opportunity to present their papers at the Award Ceremony, which will be organised at BİLGİ before the summer break. The best three papers will be published at BİLGİ European Institute’s website.

Award Ceremony will be held at santralistanbul Campus on 22 June 2018 at 15:00.

Abstract: Max. 200 words

Word count: Max. 7.000 words

Keywords: Max. 7

Subheadings: Max. 3

Format: Times New Roman, 12 points, Double Spaced

Referencing: Harvard Referencing Style

Papers should be written in English.

Ethics: Academic dishonesty in the form of cheating, plagiarism, or collusion are serious offenses and are not tolerated at Istanbul Bilgi University. University Academic Regulations and the Regulations for Student Disciplinary Matters clearly define the policy and the action to be taken in case of academic dishonesty.
