“Learning EU at School: e-Book II “ Project nearly completed

Istanbul Bilgi University’s European İnstitute developed the “ Digital EU: An e-book for Primary and High Schools in Turkey” in 2012 aiming to help develope a sense of European citizenship based on understanding and respect for human rights and democracy, and to encourage tolerance and respect for other peoples and cultures among young people. The e-book was also a response to the need of IT based learning materials for teachers and students.

In 2014 the project team (Bilgi’s European İnstitute, İstanbul Directorate General for National Education, Teachers Academy Foundation-ÖRAV-, and Beyoğlu Municipality’s Youth Centre)  obtained a further grant from EU’s Jean Monnet Learning EU at School programme in order to improve the content, methodology, design and add new visual materials to  the the e-book produced in 2012. Based on feedbacks from pilot workshops with high school students and teachers 5 new animation videos based on scribing technique, an interactive game, simplified language and an accompanying Teachers Guide are only some of the novelties that have gone into the E Book II.

The e-book II will be available for computers, tablets and androids and also accessible freely from internet for all.

The “Learning EU at School:e-book II “ project will end with a final event to be held on 24th September 2014 at İstanbul Bilgi University where the impact of the project and the pilot version of the e-book II will be presented. High School students and teachers will also have the opportunity to test the the results of the project to which they all contributed.
